Sekulic and his son arrested - New arrests in the Agrobanka scandal
Director of the Police Milorad Veljovic has confirmed that eight people have been arrested earlier on Saturday, with a view to shedding further light on the Agrobanka scandal, and added that the arrest of one more person is underway, Tanjug reported.
All arrestees would be brought before the prosecutor, the director of the police said.
“The police are tracking down another 2 people,” Veljovic said, voicing expectation that the further investigation into the Agrobanka scandal would lead to the arrest of these 2 people and another 2-3 people in the coming days.
The list of arrestees includes Habit Pharm's owner Radoslav Lale Sekulic and his sin, Veljovic said, adding that the authorities are running a check on a EUR 40-50 million loan.
Veljovic said that Sekulic had been arrested in his house in Belgrade.
Aside from Sekulic and his son, the police also questioned Dragomir Jovanovic, Borka Filipovic, Milan Stefanovic, Bratislav Mihajlovic, Dusko Sunjevaric, Dragovan Milinkovic and Nenad Maricic.
The arrestees are being questioned in the presence of the prosecutor, and how long they will be detained- that depends on their statements, he said.
Veljovic noted that “this is the very beginning of the investigation into Agrobanka's business operations,” adding that these people were involved in the unlawful granting of loans to Habit Pharm and its daughter companies.
