CineStar to open 18-screen multiplex in Belgrade in 2014 - Delta Planet to feature the largest cinema in the Balkans

The company Delta Real Estate has reached an agreement with Blitz-CineStar, the leading theatrical exhibitor in the region, on the lease of space for CineStar Planet – an 18-screen multiplex, including an IMAX® theatre and Gold Class theatres within the Delta Planet shopping mall to be built in Belgrade, the Belgrade-based company said in a release.

CineStar Planet will be a fully digital megaplex with 18 screens and a total seating capacity of 3,300, and as such the largest cinema in the region that will be showing about 200 new film titles per year, side by side with their worldwide releases.

In addition to films, the visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy alternative contents such as live transmissions of concerts, operas, ballets, and sports events, presented under their common name "Spectacles at CineStar". Comfortable air-conditioned theatres with wall-to-wall screens and state-of-the art audiovisual technologies will ensure a most enjoyable film viewing experience. No less than 10 screens will be equipped with the latest 3D digital technology, while two CineStar eXtreme theatres will contain the Auro 11.1 3D sound system that uses a 3D sound reproduction speaker layout, based on three spatial axes (width, depth, height), to reproduce a stunning sound experience, as opposed to the traditional surround sound systems that use two axes.

The opening is scheduled for autumn 2014.

IMAX at last at Delta Planet in Belgrade

IMAX theatres enable the best and the highest quality projections in the world, by the use of their IMAX, IMAX 3D® and IMAX DMR® technologies.

IMAX quality is characterized by crystal clear vision, sound in laser precision, amphitheatrical auditorium, a gigantic screen, special digital projectors and a theatre shaped according to the parameters imposed by the highest IMAX standards. The first IMAX theatre in Serbia will have more than 500 seats. The gigantic screen is 25 m wide and 24 m high (350m2) – which is larger than the screen of the IMAX theatre in Zagreb and among the largest in Europe, and its silver coating increases the level of light reflected back into the audience. Two newest generation digital projectors facilitate exceptionally high resolution, thus by far surpassing any other currently existing projection system. If we add the IMAX 3D technology, then we can speak about a whole new dimension of film viewing. The IMAX band has been recognized by film-goers throughout the world as a unique and the most all-embracing film experience.

Gold Class – a mixtureof a lounge-bar, restaurant and cinema –luxury at CineStar Planet

CineStar Planet will have two luxurious Gold Class theatres separated from the rest of the multiplex, with their own individual reception for visitors and box office, a spacious lobby and a cloak-room. Each theatre will boast 58 specially arranged, extremely comfortable, electronically adjustable arm chairs that will enable the viewers to change their seating position. Each chair will have a special compartment for personal items next to the arm-rest. The chairs will be placed in pairs, with a small table between them. A special plus in a Gold Class is the possibility of ordering food and drinks during the projection. Each chair will be equipped with a waiter calling button, and the waiter will be available at any time during the projection. Visitors can order food from a custom-made menu, as well as a wide range assortment of soft or alcoholic drinks.
