Hungary's MOL has confirmed its interest in taking over Slovenia's Petrol, while Russia's Lukoil denies its interest, the Ljubljana Finance writes.

By the way, MOL acquired 19 gas stations from Tus Oil a year ago, so that there will practically be only one more player in the Slovenian market aside from MOL if aforementioned acquisition takes place, and that is OMV.

MOL currently operates 37 gas stations in Slovenia. It is present in this country since 1996. The company is active in both retail and wholesale trade in oil products. The selling consortium, which is made up of NKBM, Istrabenz, Nova Ljubljanska Banka, Hypo, UniCredit and Gorenjska Banka, holds an 18.3 percent stake in Petrol, while Deloitte is hired to manage the sale on behalf of these stakeholders.

Other co-owners will also join the selling consortium. Allegedly, Dari Juzno, owner of between 10 and 15 percent of shares in Petrol, is interested in selling his stake.
