Japan Tobacco International in Serbia exports cigarettes and tobacco worth USD 35.5 million
Japan Tobacco International (JTI) will export the total of USD 35.5 million worth of cigarettes and tobacco from Serbia this year, up 60 percent from 2011.
JTI exports cigarettes to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, Macedonia, and Montenegro, and tobacco to the European Union.
Ever since it took over the Senta Tobacco Industry in 2006, JTI has invested over USD 140 million in machinery modernization and cigarette production, about USD 40 million of which in 2012.
JTI employs more than 300 workers in Senta and Belgrade, and it also cooperates with 600 tobacco manufacturers and seasonal workers every year.
- As the first and the largest Japanese investor, JTI has come to Serbia with a long-term aim of growing and expanding its business on both regional and local level - said JTI Director for Corporate Affairs and Communications Goran Pekez.
