Holcim expects better year
After last year's stagnation due to a harsh winter and a smaller volume of work, the cement plant Holcim Serbia expects a mild recovery in the cement market in the New Year, Communications Director Aleksandar Milosevic told Tanjug news agency.
These expectations are mainly based on large infrastructure projects backed by the state, he added.
Holcim Serbia has the annual capacity of 1,350,000 tonnes of cement. However, this company has been producing somewhat less than 800,000 tonnes annually over the last few years because of the crisis.
He also reminded that Holcim Serbia was "one of the first companies to obtain a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) certificate from NALED" this year."
The plant has also received an integrated license (IPPC) guaranteeing that it uses the best available technologies in its operations and has a minimum impact on the environment, Milosevic said.
He reiterated that the company's "investments in environmental projects in the past ten years have exceeded EUR 10 million."
