Spain's Azvi to build highway in Grdelica Gorge - Project worth EUR 39 million
Spanish construction company Azvi said in a release today that it had won a EUR 39.4 million contract to build a highway section on the southern part of Corridor X in Serbia.
According to the release published at the company's website - www.azvi.es, work on this 6.1 kilometer section between Grdelica and the Predejane tunnel will be difficult, given that they will also have to build nine viaducts and an overpass.
The company has 24 months to complete the work.
The release also reads that the construction of that section will require them to dig our about million cubic meters of earth and to apply significant environmental measures.
By working on the highway section from Nis to the Macedonian border in the valley of the South Morava River, Azvi will strengthen its presence in Serbia, where it already builds the Zezelj Bridge across the Danube near Novi Sad, the release adds.
As people at Koridori Srbije told Beta news agency, an agreement with the selected contractor, a joint venture of Spain's Azvi and Italy's Tadeti, is expected to be signed within the next 10 to 15 days.
This project is financed with the proceeds of a loan extended by the European Investment Bank.
People at Koridori Srbije also said that the construction of a section between the Predejane tunnel and Caricina Dolina would be entrusted to a joint venture of Bulgaria's Trace and Russia's Mostovik.
