Low-cost airline EasyJet plans to launch Belgrade-Milan service

The British low-cost airline EasyJet has asked for a permit to operate flights between Belgrade and Milan as of April 15th, the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate said in a release today.

As people at the Directorate told Beta news agency, EasyJet wants to launch a new service between Belgrade and Milan in the forthcoming summer season, which begins March 31st. The second largest low-cost airline in Europe plans to operate four Belgrade-Milan flights a week.

Two years ago EasyJet representatives visited Belgrade and had meetings with the representatives of the Civil Aviation Directorate, airports and tourist organizations, whom they asked about the habits of Serbian tourists and the possibilities of cooperation.

Last year EasyJet used 200 airplanes to transport more than 55m passengers in 30 countries. The company employs over 8,000 people, 2,000 of whom are pilots and 4,500 are flight attendants.
