Government to lend Tigar RSD 200 million
The Serbian government will next week provide a short-term RSD 200 million loan to the Tigar company to pay its workers salaries for the previous two months and to validate their health care cards, Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said Saturday (2 February 2013).
On a visit to the factory, he pointed out that the Devevelopment Fund would also provide Tigar with a guarantee for EUR 15 million, so that the company could reschedule its complete debts, secure money for working capital, and meet the orders of its clients.
Dinkic also said that Tigar CEO Jelena Petkovic had submitted her resignation at the trade union's request, thus performing a moral act.
According to Dinkic, Tigar fell into financial difficulties last year because of the loans it took out from banks in the previous period.
He noted that the government had decided to help Tigar become a leding tire manufacturer again in a short time.
