EPS plans to make EUR 6.5 billion investments in the period 2013-2017
The Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) plans to invest over EUR 6.5 billion in the renovation and construction of power plants in the period 2013-2017, Aleksandar Obradovic, acting director general of EPS, announced February 13th.
He said at the 1st workshop of the Serbian-Italian Business Forum that the plan was to invest RSD 484 billion (about EUR 4.5 billion) in the maintenance of current production and harmonization with environmental standards in the period between 2013 and 2017.
- The total projected investment in boosting production in the period from 2013 to 2017 is approximately RSD 235 billion or over EUR 2 billion - he noted.
Obradovic stressed that RSD 50 billion should be invested in the reversible hydroelectric power station Bistrica and hydroelectric power plants on the Morava River and the Ibar River as well as on the central reaches of the Drina River, RSD 58 billion in the opening of new mines, and RSD 127 billion in one of the thermal power stations.
- These are large investments that would be a challenge even for a company much bigger than EPS - he said.
