MK Group`s owner Miodrag Kostic stated that that company would sell the sugar refinery Sajkaska in Zabalj if it won a tender to buy Greece`s Hellenic Sugar.

According to a decision of the Serbian Commission for Protection of Competition, the sale of Sajkaska is a condition for the Sunoko sugar company, which is owned by Novi Sad-based MK Group, to get the green light to take over Hellenic Sugar.

- We find that condition acceptable and hope to win the tender. We will do everything in line with the Commission`s decision - Kostic told Beta news agency.

He noted that aside from MK Group, another three large sugar companies from Bulgaria, Poland and France were bidding for Hellenic Sugar.

Sunoko is Serbia`s largest sugar manufacturer and exporter running sugar refineries in Vrbas, Pecinci, Kovacica and Bac.

The Greek government has announced a tender to sell the 82.33-percent stake in the state-owned company Hellenic Sugar, which owns five factories in Greece, three of them active, and two sugar refineries in Serbia - Sajkaska and Crvenka.
