Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic opened the 51st International Motor Show in Belgrade on Friday, Tanjug reports.

This year's fair is a great feat given the difficult situation in the European automotive industry, Ljajic noted.

Ljajic also said that the motor show is an incentive for domestic automotive industry which is recording constant export growth, despite the crisis.

As he put it, export was up by 40 percent in 2012 when compared to 2011, and every eighth investment in Serbia is made in the automotive sector, which employs more than 19,000 people.

This year's International Motor Show in Belgrade has brought together more than 400 exhibitors from the world's most famous automotive companies.

The 7th edition of Motorcycle & Bicycle Show, which will present 58 new models, was also opened on Friday at the Belgrade Fair.

Belgrade International Motor Show is one of the 13 official motor shows to be held across the world under the auspices of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, and it will be open until March 31.
