Construction of EUR 60 million fruit storage in Brus in the pipeline

Agriculture Minister Goran Knezevic said Friday (19 April 2013) in Brus that he would soon talk with the Kuwaiti Development Fund about the construction of a big storage facility for fruits in that part of Serbia.

Minister Knezevic pointed out that about EUR 60 million should be invested in the construction of that storage, adding that there would also be a distribution center that should make it possible for Serbia to satisfy Russia's needs for fruits.

He reminded that he had recently talked with Russian PM Medvedev and President Putin, who expressed great interest in cooperation with Serbia, but also stressed that Serbia did not have enough fruits to continously export them to the Russian Federation.

Addressing the representatives of the association of raspberry growers from Serbia, Knezevic noted that the 2013 budget for agriculture would be 40 percent bigger than in 2012.

This year, as he said, about 4.5 percent of the country's budget will be spent on the agricultural sector.
