FAS hires another 500 workers
Due to an increased demand for Fiat 500L and the recently introduced third shift, the Fiat automobili Srbija (FAS) factory has hired more than 500 workers over the last two months. The number of employees has also been increased at the Karoserija (Car Body)section, where 330 cutting-edge robots have been installed since the start of 500L production.
- We currently have about 750 workers at the Karoserija section and 3,000 instead of 2,500 employees at the entire factory. These are mainly young people who have recognized FAS as a leading company in the automotive industry - said Miroslav Iskrenovic, the manager of the Karoserija section.
He pointed out that the workers, primarily those in production, had spent more than million hours attending various training courses at FAS facilities in Kragujevac and Fiat factories abroad in order to learn how to operate state-of-the-arts equipment.
Work in three eight-hour shifts five days a week has already been reintroduced at production facilities Karoserija, Lakirnica and Preseraj, whereas the Montaza section should introduce the third shift on April 22nd. This factory, which has already increased the volume of production, would greatly appreciate if the state fulfilled its obligation to move an old city substation from the factory grounds, Iskrenovic stressed.
