EUR 30 million approved to continue work on Selova dam
(Selova)
The Serbian government will set aside EUR 30 million for the continuation of work on the Selova dam on the Toplica River near Kursumlija, whose construction was commenced in 1986, Kursumlija Mayor Radoljub Vidic told Beta news agency.
According to him, the plan for this year is to resolve the issue of relocation of about twenty households from the area that is going to be flooded with water, whereas the cleaning of the riverbed and the area surrounding it, which will also be flooded, is in the pipeline for 2014, and will be followed by the construction of a bypass around the Selova dam.
He added that there should also be a hydroelectric power station and a water factory.
Vidic voiced his expectation that it would not take longer than three or four years to finish all the works.
Thanks to this dam, water will be supplied to four municipalities in the Toplica Region, Kursumlija, Blace, Prokuplje, Zitoradja as well as a part of Nis.
