New Russian train to operate between Zajecar and Pozarevac as of 18 June 2013
Serbian Railways has announced in a release that the new Russian train will operate between Zajecar and Pozarevac as of Tuesday, thus making it possible to establish a rail link to Belgrade.
According to this release, the train will leave Zajecar at 11.01 PM and arrive in Pozarevac (via Vrazogrnac, Bor, Majdanpek and Rabrovo-Klenje) at 3.55 AM. On its way back, it will leave Pozarevac at 10.20 AM and arrive in Zajecar at 15.16 PM.
The new diesel engine train can travel at a speed of 120 kmph, and is one of the twelve new trains bought from Russia's Metrovagonmas with the proceeds of a CHF 43 million loan extended by the international railway bank EUROFIMA.
In all regions where Serbian Railways has started using new diesel engine trains, the number of passengers has grown between 25 and 50 percent with the revenue from ticket sales amounting to RSD 40 million, the release reads.
