Lego to launch special series inspired by "The Simpsons"

Danish toy company Lego confirmed Monday that it would launch a special series of bricks themed on "The Simpsons" family in 2014.

Lego spokesman Roar Rude Trangbaek didn't want to reveal any details about the new toy series, such as what characters would be included.

The Danish company has seen its sales soar in recent years after it started making series based on popular movies such as "Star Wars" and "Ninjago."

"The Simpsons" has been on the air for 22 years, thus becoming the longest-running American animated program and a cultural phenomenon.
