Finishing works started on Prvonek dam

Finishing works on Prvonek dam, including the completion of an aquatorium among other things, have begun thanks to an investment of RSD 70 million from the national budget.

- Finishing works on Prvonek dam are being carried out by the workers of Hidrotehnika. The plan is to use aforementioned funds to also rehabilitate the access road, protect the dam and equip the aquatorium, which should contribute to tourism development - says Krsta Janjic, director of Vodovod Vranje.

Construction of this capital facility commenced back in 1989, while the artificial lake was put in trial operation in 2005, This solved the problem of chronical shortage of water in the summer. However, the dam still lacks an operating permit that cannot be issued before these works are over, which is expected to happen by the year's end.
