World Bank estimates that Serbia represents regional leader in reforms
Manager of the World Bank for Southeast Europe, Orsali Kalancopulos, estimated that Serbia was the leader in the region as far as successful implementation of economic reform was concerned.
- Privatization in Serbia develops successfully, which can be seen in the economic growth and accumulation of reserves - Kalancopulos estimated, pointing out that Serbia deals with "sophisticated economy in which the level of education of the people is very high".
Speaking about the situation in the region, Kalacopulos pointed to the need for modernization of the govermnent sector, emphasizing that realization of the reforms in some countries of the region develops slowly due to excessive experimenting or poorly conducted privatization.
As far as Kosovo is concerned, her opinion is that it registered economic progress, but that the economic development is below standards set for Southeast Europe.
