Serbian Telekom interested in 068 network in Montenegro

The tender for the opening of the third mobile telephony system in Montenegro 068 was announced on November 10 and will be opened prior to January 15. The interested in the license, for the time being, are: Telekom Srbija and Russian Vimpel Com.

There are now two mobile telephony systems in Montenegro - ProMonte 069 and T • mobile 067, until recently Monet.

Telekom Srbija was also interested in buying the Montenegrin Telecom two years ago but its offer in amount of 88.9m EUR was third-placed, after Hungarian MATAV and Mobilkom Austria which offered more.

A delegation of Russian Vimpel Com has recently visited Podgorica and announced its participation in the tender for the opening of the new mobile telephony.

Company Vimpel Com is owned by the telecommunication giant Alfa Group, the property of billionaire Mihail Fridman, and one of the stockholders is Norwegian Telenor.

The Agency for Telecommunications previously stated that there were other companies interested in 068, such as Vodafone, Swedish Tele 2 and others.
