The Assembly of Jat Airways yesterday confirmed the Serbian government's decision to appoint Dane Kondic as CEO of that company, Tanjug has reported.

The government suggested that the previous acting CEO of Jat Airways, Velibor Vukasinovic, should be relieved of his duty.

An agreement on strategic partnership between the Serbian government and Etihad was signed August 1st. The company from the United Arab Emirates will thus become the owner of 49 percent of the Serbian flag carrier. The agreement signing ceremony was also attended by Dane Kondic.

Jat Airways will shortly start operating under the name of Air Serbia, but it will not formally change the name immediately. When this happens, the company will also modify its operating airline certificate.

Dane Kondic is a Serb from Australia, born in Sydney, known as Deni Kondic in international business circles. He had been holding top managerial positions in Etihad until recently.

Kondic was the manager of business development at Australian airline Kvantas in the late 1990s, and he also worked for Malaysia Airlines for three and a half years. He spent the last year working as the regional director for southeast Asia of Sabre Airline Solutions.

Before that he served as commercial vice president of Abacus International in Asia. He also worked at GTA, a part of Travelport, and at Kuoni Travel.
