DINKIC: Soon first loan from the UAE for irrigation project in Vojvodina
(Mladjan Dinkic)
URS leader Mladjan Dinkic stated today that talks about a loan from the United Arab Emirates for irrigation systems in Vojvodina were in the final phase, adding that USD 100 million were expected to be extended for a start. Dinkic, who is also the deputy chairman of the Committee for Cooperation with the UAE, said that the total value of that loan was USD 400 million, noting that a loan agreement can be expected to be signed within the next few days.
In his guest appearance on TV B92, Dinkic pointed out that loans were not the only topic of the conversation with the UAE, adding that the project with the Mubadala company involving the construction of a computer chip factory in Surcin was also very important.
According to Dinkic, they currently negotiate the construction of a science and research center for semiconductors that would employ 50 top scientists, which would be the first phase of the project with Mubadala, and a preliminary agreement should be signed soon.
Dinkic underlined that Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and he had been working as a team on the cooperation with the UAE from the start, explaining that Vucic had had a direct contact with Sheikh Mohammed owing to his position in the government, while he himself had established contacts with leading funds and companies from the UAE.
Dinkic believes that he has kept his position in the Committee for Cooperation with the UAE after the URS exited the government because Vucic and Sheikh Mohammed were satisfied with their cooperation with him.
