STRAUSS-KAHN: It is not easy, but it is possible to recover Serbia's economy
(Dominique Strauss-Kahn)
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said today that it would not be easy to recover Serbia's economy, but he pointed out it was possible.
- I will try to help, but it won't be easy. World economy is not in a good condition, there are big problems. Situation in Serbia is not good either, but I believe it is possible to recover the economy - Strauss-Kahn said in the Serbian government after a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
Strauss-Kahn expressed his satisfaction with the fact that he would be on a team to help the economic recovery of Serbia, stressing that it was one of important preconditions for stabilization in the region.
- This is necessary because both growth and general development rely on stability - said Strauss-Kahn.
He did not reveal whether he would advise Serbia to prolong its arrangement with the IMF.
Vucic said that a team of people in Belgrade and Paris would be helping Strauss-Kahn.
The New York Times said in today's issue that Dominique Strauss-Kahn had accepted to work with the Serbian government for free during the first three months, which was also confirmed by Strauss-Kahn himself.
