(Felix Romuliana)
Preparations for the construction of Visitor Center in Zajecar should kick off soon. This facility will comprise rooms for visitors, conference rooms, accommodation units, as well as a special depot for valuable exhibits found on the ancient archeological site Felix Romuliana, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since June 2007.
- We have agreed at a meeting with the representatives of the European Union, which is working with the National Museum of the City of Zajecar on the Visitor Center project, to commence preparation works for this project worth EUR 8 million. The next step is the preparation of a comprehensive master plan for Zajecar and its surroundings, so the construction of this facility could start in 2015 - Aleksandra Madzoski Djuric, acting director of the Tourism Organization of Zajecar (TOZ), told Tanjug news agency.
People at TOZ say that the city generates about EUR 5 million in revenue from tourism every year. Apart from free bike tours of the city and traditional music festival Zajecarska Gitarijada that has been attracting thousands of rock music lovers for nearly half a century, TOZ assigns special importance to the tours of the archeological site Felix Romuliana from the 3rd century.
