On Tuesday (26 November 2013), Serbian lawmakers adopted amendments to the Law on Public Roads that will allow the state to lease out land for gas stations.
Instead of being accompanying facilities, gas stations will become an integral part of public roads.

The state will be continuously getting a fee for land lease that will be spent on road maintenance, and it will also be able to control the spots where gas stations are situated and, thus, increase the safety.

According to these amendments to the Law on Public Roads, oil and ready-made product pipelines will be treated as infrastructure systems.
