Crvena Zvezda FC invited to new league
Russian company Gazprom wants to form a new football league that would bring together top clubs from eastern Europe, that is, from all the countries on the South Stream gas pipeline route. An invitation is also sent to the football club Crvena Zvezda.
Few days ago Gazprom officials met with the management of Crvena Zvezda and offered them to take part in the new football league, which both sides described as a great idea, the daily Glas Rusije reports.
President of Crvena Zvezda FC Dragan Dzajic says that football clubs from Russia, Ukrain, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and other countries from the region may compete in the same league as early as of next spring, for a significant prize money.
Crvena Zvezda could have a substantial financial benefit from this, its officials admit.
