'Delhaize Serbia' invests 45 million EUR in 2014
Retail chain `Delhaize Serbia` is planning to open in Serbia 10 to 20 new retail premises with investment worth about 45 million EUR, the same amount invested in this year.
According to the CEO of the company, John Kyritsis, they have in plan to hire around 600 new workers. Presently, `Delhaize` has 340 retail objects and 11.000 employees in Serbia.
Giving the comment on the arrival of new retail chains, Kyritsis said that it is always good to have a competition and new players, as it brings better conditions for consumers, and more favourable prices.
- We are not afraid of the competition - we love it, because it affects on the improvement of business and that will encourage us to work more and better, said Kyritsis.
`Delhaize` will remain in the Serbian market, because Serbia is a strategic market, with a great growth potential. The best proof is construction of a new distributive center in Stara Pazova, investment worth 50 million EUR.
Kyritsis estimated that he is very pleased with business in Serbia, but Delhaize hasn`t achieved the expected results due to the situation in the country.
However, we have accomplished growth, we are the market leaders, thus we are satisfied, said Kyritsis.
