Production started at hot rolling mill in Smederevo steelworks

A hot rolling mill in the Smederevo steelworks was put back in operation on Tuesday morning.
In this way, the steel production process is entering its final phase as planned, people at Zelezara Smederevo told Tanjug news agency.

A cold rolling mill in that steel plant and the Sabac-based facility for producing white sheet metal are also expected to be back in operation by the end of this month.

About 75 percent of the total of 5,060 employees are currently at their working place in the steel plant in Smederevo. The rest of workers will return to work as soon as machines for final production are put back in operation.

Zelezara Smederevo produces hot and cold rolled sheet metal for which it owns alll necessary certificates.

The Vienna economic daily Virtschaftsblat writes that the British-Austrian fund Westwood Financial Advisory considers the possibility of investing in Zelezara Smederevo.

Westwood, an investment fund headquartered in London and Vienna, intends to invest up to USD 450 million in our steelworks.
