Master Plan for Belgrade on Water to be completed in early March
Master Plan for the Belgrade on Water project will be completed in the first week of March, which will make it possible to immediately commence the relocation of railway tracks to allow for the start of construction, representatives of the Serbian Transportation Ministry and the Belgrade city administration said Monday (17 February 2014).
Sinisa Mali, the president of the Temporary Body of Belgrade, told a press conference on Monday that the first phase of preparations for the implementation of aforementioned project would see the relocation of a third of railway tracks for the purpose of preparing the terrain for the construction of first four buildings.
- There will be a tower, shopping center, and two more facilities, possibly hotels - said the head of the temporary management of Belgrade.
He added that the first construction works can be expected in late 2014.
The Belgrade on Water project, which will be implemented in cooperation with a partner from the United Arab Emirates - Mohammed Al Abbar's Eagle Hills, calls for the construction of between 1.5 and 2 million square meters of business, residential, cultural and commercial space on about 90 hectares of land in so-called Sava Amphitheater, alongside the right bank of the Sava River.
- I hope that all deadlines will be respected and that Belgrade will look completely different in five years - said Sinisa Mali.
Mali also stated that negotiations on the Belgrade on Water funding were in the final phase and should be completed by the end of March.
