Delhaize sells Piccadilly market chain in Bulgaria

Belgian retailer Delhaize has announced that it has signed an agreement to sell the Piccadilly market chain in Bulgaria which this company acquired in 2011 by taking over its previous owner - the Serbian store chain Delta Maxi.
The value of the agreement signed February 26 has not been announced yet and neither has a more detailed information on the buyer, the AP Mart company, which is in the process of registration.
The media in Bulgaria say that the owners of AP Mart are Bulgarian citizens Angel Angelov and Petar Dudolenski.
Delhaize announced on its website that the sale should be finalized in the second quarter of this year and approved by competent regulatory bodies.

The Piccadilly chain is made up of 28 supermarkets - 16 in Sofia, 6 in Varna, and one in Burgas, Veliko Trnovo, Lovec, Vidin, and Gabrovo. There are also 24 stores operating under the brand of Piccadilly in Sofia and Varna.
