Energotehnika Juzna Backa to build power plant in Bor - Project worth EUR 5.7 million
The managements of the Mining Smelter Basin (RTB) Bor and Energotehnika Juzna Backa from Novi Sad signed Wednesday (12 March 2014) an agreement on the construction of new power plant within RTB Bor.
This turnkey project is valued at EUR 5.7 million, and all the work should be finished by the year's end.
The power plant will be built by the year's end as part of a project to build a new smelter and sulfuric acid plant in RTB Bor, and it will be using excess steam from the processes at new facilities to generate electrical energy.
This will be the largest plant of that kind in the region. Aside from electrical energy, it will also produce demineralized water for boilers in the new smelter and sulfuric acid plant.
Energotehnika, which has won the contract on a public tender as the best bidder, will be both designer and contractor.
The new power plant is expected to generate 2 MW of electricity which accounts for 25 percent of the power that will be consumed by the new smelter and sufuric acid plant.
- In that way, we will save between 1.1 and 1.2 million euro a year, meaning that the investment in this power plant will pay off in five years. Given that the plant is almost fully automated, it will employ only 20 workers - said RTB Bor CEO Blagoje Spaskovski.
