Complicated brain surgeries soon to be possible in Serbia as well
The Clinical Center of Serbia should soon obtain Gamma Knife which will make it possible to perform complicated brain tumor surgeries in Serbia, Director of the Emergency Department Zlatibor Loncar announced Thursday.
Loncar said in his guest appearance on TV Pink that negotiations were underway with the Flight Control that was going to provide the largest portion of funds for the procurement of that machine, after which the citizens of Serbia would no longer have to travel abroad to undergo a brain tumor surgery.
He pointed out that the Clinical Center of Serbia would continue to improve its capacity for complex transplant surgeries in the following period, adding that he expected pancreas transplant surgeries to be performed soon in Serbia.
As he explained, lung transplant procedure, one of the most complex surgeries, will still be performed in cooperation with the AHK hospital in Vienna.
