Belgrade to cancel Bus Plus - Without the agreement with Apex, tender to be released
On April 3, 2014, representatives of the Temporary Council of the City of Belgrade and the Apex company did not manage to agree with respect to Bus Plus system functioning so soon new tender will be released for the control and ticket payment collection in the city transport, it was announced at the official city site, beograd.rs.
- In today’s talks with Apex we did not come to any solution which is acceptable and in line with the interests of the city. As the president of the Temporary Council, as I gave the order to the Secretariat for Traffic and the Directorate for public transport to start preparation of documentation for a new tender for the selection of a new operator with which the City of Belgrade would create the system on completely new basis which would the biggest benefit for Belgrade and Belgrade citizens – the president of the Temporary Council, Sinisa Mali, announced.
The Blic newspaper, announced that, according to the unofficial information, the agreement was not made because the representatives of the Temporary Council were not ready to fulfill all requirements Apex asked, so most likely the both parties will deal with the issue at the court. As the newspaper reports, the Apex representatives have a deadline of a couple of days to accept the terms and if they do not do so, the contract will terminate. The city reps do not expect they will pay penalties for the contract termination, Blic claims.
