Macedonia becomes "textile giant"? - Multinational company Weibo Group to invest USD 400 million
Macedonia will get the largest integrated textile zone in Europe, Selcuk Alperen, the director of the multinational company Weibo Group, announced. This company plans to build a complex of textile production facilities on a surface area of about 40 hectares in the northeastern part of Macedonia.
- We are going to invest about USD 180 million for a start and another USD 220 million later. Between 4 and 5 thousand people will get a job, and we expect our exports to reach a value of between 600 and 800 million US dollars in about five years - said Alperen.
People at Weibo Group cite a favorable business environment, quality manpower and the capacity for speedy production and delivery as the main reasons for their decision to invest in Macedonia.
Construction of these facilities is expected to start in the second half of the year, while first exports should be generated in 2015.
