Subsidized loans for economy sector available as of July, IMF opposing this move
Experts say that the idea of involving the Republic of Serbia in the lending to companies is great, although the IMF does not agree with it.
- Subsidies for loans for enterprises will be set aside in the budget upon its revision that is expected in July - Veroljub Arsic, the chairman of the Finance Board of the National Assembly of Serbia, told Tanjug news agency.
According to him, the idea behind these loans is to provide support primarily to small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in production, especially if they're export-oriented.
When asked if that was going to affect Serbia's relationship with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Arsic replied that their support to the state meant a lot, but he explained that the current situation in the country made such subsidies more than necessary.
Veroljub Dugalic, the secretary general of the Serbian Association of Banks, said to Tanjug that such subsidies would push companies that can operate well.
By the way, Vucic announced that banks would grant EUR 1.2 billion worth of subsidized loans. As he noted, these will be the most favorable loans possible for the private sector in Serbia.
