The South Stream company has signed a contract with the Centrgaz company to build South Stream gas pipeline in the territory of Serbia, Gazprom announced in a release on Tuesday. Centrgaz is an investment and construction holding that operates as part of the Gazprom group, Itar-Tass has reported.
Centrgaz will be responsible for drawing the plans, delivering the equipment and materials, carrying out building and installations works, organizing staff trainings, and commissioning South Stream in Serbia.
The contract stipulates that certain works must be carried out by partner companies from Serbia.
South Stream is Gazprom's global infrastructure project aimed at building a gas pipeline with a capacity of 63 billion cubic meters through the Black Sea and the countries of south and central Europe, with the aim of diversifying the export routes for natural gas and eliminating the risk of transit. South Stream gas pipeline should stretch across the territory of Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Austria, Itar-Tass reminds.
