Norway shares hives to Serbian apiarists

Within the project "Honey production – the export chance for Branicevsko region", more than 300 hives for apiarists from municipalities of Petrovac and Žagubica was shared. The project is funded by the Kingdom of Norway with the support of local self-governances, BIP organization the Mlava Apiarists’ Association, Medino, Honningcentralen and others, Medino company announced.

The consultant of the Norwegian Ambassador, Ivan Kuzminovic, the manager at Business Innovation Programs, Bratislav Dobric, Secretary of the Norwegian-Serbian Association, Dragan Markovic, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Mica Mladenovic, Zlata Petrovic from the Mlava Apiarists’ Association as well as the Medino company manager, Darko Mandic addressed the present apiarists.

The General Manager of Medino, Darko Mandic, pointed out that the conditions for honey production this year were very bad due to unfavorable weather conditions and outlined that the company invested in the most modern microscope for pollen analysis "Leica" so that more precise selection of acacia honey could be carried out for easier export markets products placement.

Last year, Norway was the second-ranked in export of Krnjevo-based Medino which alone exported a half of Serbia export of over 3.000 tons of honey. The company strategy is to attract funds for apiary development in Serbia through Medino Partner program.
