Employment ID booklets are going in history. Amendments to the Labour Law stipulates that in future years of service for employees will be recorded within PIO Fund records.

Paper employment booklet will be replaced by January 2015.

- Employment ID booklets issued before that date will continue to be used for the realization of labor rights - said for "Blic" Snezana Bogdanovic from the Ministry of Labour.

In this way actually, the Fund takes over the responsibility of keeping the employment record in electronic form for each of us. Experts warn that due to rather chaotic state of registry records in PIO, there could be problems with proving the service and registration of the future work experience in the database.

As soon as this Regulation come into force on electronic data record of employment, employers will have to returen to their employees the employment ID booklet. The advice from the Ministry is that once this Regulation becomes valid, all employees should take their employment booklets, because they will be still considered a public document for proving service by the time of the introduction of an electronic database of records.
