UDOVICIC: Privatization models prepared

(Vanja Udovicic)Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovičić says that everything is ready for privatization and transformation of sports clubs and he believes that it will be easier to privatize clubs within the country than in Belgrade. Udovičić was visiting the RTS, on which occasion he said that the Ministry conducted a research and prepared three models that would be presented to the Ministry of Economy and the Government of Serbia.
Udovičić said that the Ministry of Economy should give the model of privatization and transformation of sport clubs, but that his Ministry would be there to assist.
- The survey has been completed, we visited eight, nine countries and have seen their experiences. Also, we talked to people in Serbia who are closely associated with the sport, and we made a general picture - said Udovičić.
- As a team, we have prepared two or three models to recommend that can be applied here. The final word will be given by the Minister of Economy and the Government of Serbia - said Udovičić.
He explained that the clubs that have been established before 1996 will be privatized, referring to those which had become citizens associations after implementation of the Law on the sport. While all the clubs that were established after that period can be transformed.
Speaking of potential buyers for the clubs Udovičić said that there are buyers for everything, even for Partizan and Red Star, but he thinks there will be a lot more clubs privatized in the interior than in Belgrade.
