We need more German investments in car and agricultural industry
Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucuc, invited on Sunday (August 24, 2014) German investors to invest in Serbia as much as possible. The Prime Minister invited them before the conference on the West Balkans which is scheduled for Thursday in Berlin at the call of German official, Angela Merkel.
- We need more German investments in car and agriculture industry – the Prime Minister pointed out in his interview to a renowned German magazine, Focus.
According to his words, Serbian government expects from German official, Angela Merkel “to support keeping the political and economic stability in the West Balkans”.
When asked about the conflict between the West and Russia due to Ukrainian crisis, Serbian Prime Minister said that Russian management was clearly informed Serbia is moving along the way to EU. Vucic repeated that Serbia recognized territorial integrity of Ukraine which means Krym belongs to Ukraine.
However, the Prime Minister at the same time outlined that Serbia, facing crisis, cannot afford to join the economic sanctions to Russia.
- We depend on Russian gas and the biggest tax payer is Russian concern NIS – Vucic reminded.
When it comes to the agreement on the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline which will deliver Russian gas to Europe, Vucic outlined it is a good thing for Serbia.
- However, the project depends on relations between Russia and EU. Without the consent of our EU partners, gas pipeline cannot be built – Vucic said.
The Prime Minister also stressed out that according to the agreement, Serbian companies would earn EUR 500 mil through the works on gas pipeline.
- Even if gas never passes through, our companies would profit – Vucic estimated.
