TABAKOVIC: No need to worry about dinar exchange rate oscillation

Dinar exchange rate oscillation should not worry anybody, the Governor of NBS, Jorgovanka Tabakovic, said for RTS. The international environment has already been sending stabilizing effects and there is a big interest for Serbian securities, the Governor outlined.

Jorgovanka Tabakovic said for Dnevnik RTS that dinar exchange rate has been stable for two years but that it was not the top but the topic was inflation.

Jorgovanka Tabakovic pointed out that this should not worry anybody. As she said, her team is doing is best to estimate all effects even the ones coming from international environment and which are already stabilizing.

She said we should be encouraged with yesterday’s auction with big interest of investors in securities. According to her, we have a steady exchange rate for two days now, lower than RSD 119, without interventions of NBS.

Jorgovanka Tabakovićc said that NDS does not have target dinar value but it aims at currency stabilization. She also mentioned that NBS has mechanisms to keep dinar stable.

Governor said that we benefit from events such as yesterday’s visit of the Governor of the Central Bank of China.

She explained that the Chinese Governor said that Chinese banks are ready to invest in funding securities which proves they believe in Serbia.

Speaking about governmental deficit funding, the Governor said it generates problems for everybody and that it is a consequence of overspending which reflects on the exchange rate as well.

Jorgovanka Tabakovic said that she does not give advice the Government but that she encourages them to conduct measures which have been delayed for a long time and which are really essential.
