It is still unknown whether JTI will acquire Tvornica duhana Rovinj
On Sunday, September 28, 2014, representatives of Adris Group, Tvornica duhana Rovinj (TDR) operates within, did not give a specific answer to media that Japan tobacco international wants to acquire TDR, but they said "they are considering different options".
When asked whether JTI will take over one of the biggest tobacco companies in the region with more than 10% stake at the market, PR of Adris Group, PredragGrubic, said they are considering different options.
President of the Management at TDR, Mato Zadro, said it is obvious the enlargement trend has been present in the world tobacco industry.
- Four biggest tobacco companies have 80% of the world market and in Europe, the same companies have more than 90% of the market – Zadro said, specifying that the companies are Philip Morris, JTI, British American Tobacco and Imperial Tobacco Group.
According to him, in 2013, TDR sold 9, 5 billion cigarettes in all markets, 64,5% of which was exported.
Zadro said he is extremely satisfied with the growth at the Serbian market where TDR sold 1, 2 billion pieces of cigarettes and has 10% of the market share.
- At the Serbian market we generated market share growth which reached 9,6%by the end of the last year. The growth has continued this year so the market share in 2014 reached 10, 1%, which is the biggest one since TDR has arrived tothe Serbian market - Zadro said.
According to the company data, this year they have been generating the best result in Croatia where the market share is bigger than 60%, with 3, 4 billion pieces of sold cigarettes in 2013.
