October 23 Belgrade to host conference of the region and EU on economy
October 23, Belgrade will host the officials of the West Balkans countries and EC representatives in order to consider economy situation and development of the region as well as options for stronger infrastructure connections, EUD representative in Serbia said on Thursday, October 9, 2014.
Ministers of economies and foreign affairs of the region and potentially ministers of finance will be invited and EU will be presented by the commissionaire for expansion, Stefan File and commissionaire for economic and financial issues, Jyrki Katainen, department head at EUD in Serbia, Freek Janmaat said.
The conference continues the meeting held in Berlin on infrastructural networking of the region, Janmaat said and reminded that economic management and stronger interaction between the countries in the region and EU one of the EU expansion policy priorities.
Janmaat reminded that in May this year, EC published recommendations for economic reforms of the region where Serbia has already fulfilled some of them already, such as law on bankruptcy and privatization and change of the retired insurance system.
