MISCEVIC: Agreement with Russia effective until joining EU

The head of Serbia’s team for negotiations on joining of Serbia to EU, Tanja Miscevic, said on Thursday, October 8,2014, that the agreement on free trading with Russia will be effective until Serbia becomes EU member.
- EU said all agreements which Serbia has with third countries,including the one with Russia, stay effective until we become EU member –Miscevic said to journalists in Brussels during screening of Chapter 30 of the negotiating process which refers to foreign trade.
She explained that the main topic of today’s discussions with EC experts was alignment of foreign relations of Serbia with mutual EU policy.
Miscevic said she is satisfied with current talks which comprised topics such as arms and double purpose goods trading.
The head of the Serbian team also said she is satisfied with the EC report on Serbia’s progress in EU integrations.
The state secretary at the ministry of trade, Stevan Nikcevic, who was managing the working group in screening of Chapter 30, expressed expectation that during next year, Serbia will adopt laws on turnover of genetically modified organisms which will comply with the conditions to become a member of the World Trading Organization.
