The tender for the construction of 80 kilometers of a sewer system on the left bank of the Danube, in Borca and Krnjaca, will be published by the end of next week, the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, announced today.

On TV Studio B, he reminded that the tender for the construction of a waste water treatment facility and the tender for the FIDIC engineer who would monitor the project had been published prior to that.

– The residents on the left bank of the Danube, more than 80,000 people, will finally get sewer. As part of the tender, the City of Belgrade and the City Municipality of Palilula have secured for a manhole to be done for each house at the expense of the European Investment Bank, so it will cost the residents nothing. They will only pay for the connection, in 60 installments, and on the manholes that they will get for free, each house will save EUR 800 to 1,000, which is what it costs otherwise – Vesic specified.

This is big news for the left bank of the Danube, because the problem which has existed for as long as the settlements itself will finally be solved, estimated the deputy mayor.

– The sewer system on the left bank of the Danube will cost EUR 55 to 60 million, of which EUR 35 million comes from a loan from the European Investment Bank, EUR 16 million will be a donation of the European Union, and the rest comes from the budget of the City of Belgrade. On certain sections on the left bank of the Danube, the works are already starting. These are the works that are financed from the city budget and for which we have already published tenders and got the contractors, so we will not wait for the tender for the part paid by EIB to be completed to start working – Vesic said, as reported by Beoinfo.
