Serbia to Stop Exporting Oil, Wheat, Corn and Flour from Thursday

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that Serbia would stop the export of oil, wheat, corn and flour from Thursday and that the Government had prepared a decree which pertains to the import of energy sources.

On TV B92, Vucic said that Serbia would have enough oil, wheat, corn and flour for its own needs and for the region.

He also said that the Government of Serbia had prepared the decision on the exemption on customs fees on the import of energy sources “from third countries”.

– This will pertain to oil from third countries, if we import it – Vucic said.

He said that the government’s decision had been made ahead of that day’s announcement of the EU’s position on the import of energy sources from Russia.

Vucic added that there were different positions in the EU on oil and gas sanctions and that the EU met 40% of its gas needs and 30% of its oil needs from Russia.

– If they ban the import of all energy sources from the territory of Russia, that means we have a problem, because there’s nothing we can’t do and gas and oil won’t fall from the sky – he said.

He explained that the government had therefore prepared the decision on the import of energy sources from third countries.

He said that the decision to have fuel subsidized for agriculturists at NIS gas stations in the next month and a half had also been prepared.
