Through its 15 years of existence, the Belgrade REBEC conference has gathered several thousand biggest world names in real estate industry development in the capital of Serbia. This event has far exceeded its regional importance and dimension, as well as the city it originated in. Our speakers are experts, investors and professors from world universities, who lead international companies, developing operations in markets such as EMEA, CEE and SEE. Many of them are pioneers who establish future trends and who are very hard to get. With them, REBEC has grown into a giant butterfly, which seems to be outgrowing the garden in which it first flapped its wings.
How did this paradox happen?
When we were starting out, the idea was for REBEC as a conference with an exhibit part to resemble the traditional MIPIM in Cannes in terms of style and content. Being aware of the size and the special characteristics of our market, we started placing special focus on the quality of the program, a true exchange of knowledge and information. Through a strong selection of speakers, setting increasingly serious standards when it comes to the quality of panel discussions, we allowed for various experiences, opinions and approaches to meet on equal grounds and compete against each other. It is in no way a coincidence that the Sava and the Danube and their confluence are symbols of REBEC. In addition to being symbols of Belgrade, those two rivers are two powerful water bodies – European and regional – which bring life to the cities that they pass through and which have been connecting cultures and people since time immemorial.
A fist and a garden of a thousand flowers
Our slogan United Differences was established in 2012 through an informal conversation with Edward Jervis, the then director of sales in the Asian market at MIPIM, who encouraged us to persevere with our idea about REBEC as a big event which “unites differences”.
– The fingers of a hand are very different, but it is only together that they make a fist – were his words.
Although this year’s event is organized as a hybrid-event, which means that the participants have the option of online access, the majority of the participants will attend in person. In addition to the specialized REBEC communities from the SEE region, the remaining part of Europe, UK, visitors from Canada, UAE and Kazakhstan… we expect participants from 40 countries of the world.
We can list the confirmed participants from the companies: MyKensey, IBI Group, Immofinanz, CBRE, C&W, JLL, Colliers, Coreside / Savills, Reify, Celen Group, NBG, mstep, SMD+, PKF hotelexperts, Louvre Hotels, PlanRadar, Sillage, Ecovis SEE, MPC Properties, Konstantine film, Delta Real Estate, CTP, ABC Nepremimčnine, Alfa stan, Sebra, Alpha Hotel Management, alfa real estate, Across, NLB Komercijalna banka, OTP Banka, GTC, HPB Nekretnine, Alkas Consulting, Besico, RealPad, Hit Alpinea, REED Group, Atellior, Lindner, VSS advisory, Regio Plan, Morkin house, Kristina Zanič Architects, Baldini Studio, Art Strategies Group, Soravia, Isson Asset Solution, Alsus Consulting, Bigova Bay, STR, Mama Shelter, Indigo, Kadena Properties, Buildcon, Conza Properties, Portomontenegro, SARAIVA + ASSOCIADOS, Sillage, Halk Bank, Erste banka, Unicredit banka, Finvest, MIND grupa, Avison Young, Abaka, BTK Real Estate Development D.O.O, RC Europe, Europe Properties, Design International, WMEP, Chapell Hill International, UDI Development, Wyndham Hotels, Ezio Tarchini Ingegneria SA, B Devet D.O.O, Leko Arhitekti, MVJ Advokatska kancelarija, Intesa Leasing, KSEL Advokati, Brima Real Estate, Hrvatske pošte, Supervision, Doriana Konsalting, CP Securities, Novaston Asset Management, Indotek, Ministry for Economic Development and Tourism of the Government of the Republic of Montenegro, Dahua tehnologije, Kredium and many others.

REBEC and the circumstances which are changing the world significantly
We are in a very complicated post-Covid market moment, with an increasing impact of the crisis in Ukraine. During the Covid crisis, enormous amounts of money were printed and pumped into economies worldwide. Supply chains have been jeopardized and broken, and the prices of construction materials and workforce are not about to settle down any time soon. In addition to this tandem of factors, there’s also the increase in the price of energy, which, in addition to real estate and the construction industry, affects all the manufacturing industries.
In the changing economic and political circumstances, which are changing the world significantly, we are seeking answers to the questions: “When will the crisis whirlpool reach its deepest point?”, “What will the sinking look like?” and “When can social recovery into the stabilization zone be expected?”. To the majority of humankind, the answers to these questions are foggy, and people are reluctant to talk about the true dimensions of the coming changes.
Fourth industrial revolution: Life after tomorrow?
Since the beginning of the Covid crisis, during the partial or full closing-down of the markets, a revolutionary implementation of digitization has been occurring in parallel, followed by a range of regulatory changes worldwide. These regulatory changes will significantly impact life in the future. The global order we were familiar with practically no longer exists. The world is striving to establish an efficient and different management system. Experimentations with alternative currency systems, alternative political systems, are underway, and nanotechnologies are forging their path as well.
The first three industrial revolutions contributed to the development of the society: population growth, living standard improvement, global wealth increase, but they also conditioned an unsustainable development of civilization. So unsustainable that, in 2015, the Paris Agreement was signed in that city by 194 countries about climate changes and the meeting of 17 goals of sustainable development by 2030.
The world is searching for new energy sources, which will enable a sustainable development and progress of humanity.
At the moment, the global society is entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the existing social order is changing significantly. The changes will be tectonic.
REBEC 2022 will try to offer answers to said influences, which are shaping the development of real estate in Serbia, SEE and Europe in a crucial manner. The program and the topics take into account the fact that modern trends work in favor of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, which reduce the time for an increasing number of activities in everyday life and work processes, but also suppress the ultimate importance of physical presence.
This year’s topic will be the lament over the IV Industrial Revolution, digitization and the protech influence on the development of real estate. We will have a debate about the economic indicators in the real estate market in the time of crisis. Ahead of their companies, the speakers will offer projections and solutions in the time of an increased global, social and political uncertainty, and a special theme segment is dedicated to energy and energy efficiency.
Our ultimate goal is to come up with defensible conclusions to the topic of: What will life after “tomorrow” look like?

Networking, networking and networking
The time that is coming will put each of us to test and quality information if getting harder to find. Due to this, we expect a record number of visitors this year. We also want to physically gather as many regional representatives as possible.
The Whova platform will once again help us establish the REBEC social network and connect people from all over the world. The platform will be open to our guests even after the event ends, with the possibility of on-demand rewatching of panels, access to the sponsor HUB, group and 1-1 video networking and so on.
Our main goal is to preserve the tradition of fostering quality, emphasized through 15 years of experience, due to which REBEC is recognized far outside the borders of Serbia. We also want to premiere the already mentioned current topics, but also highlight our people from the whole world who have mastered prestigious skills and rose to enviable professional highs. Finally, we want to present an image of Belgrade, which, according to the significance and the quality of REBEC, stands shoulder to shoulder with the major cities of the world.
We are inviting the audience and professionals from all over the world to “catch the wave” and, together with us, enrich our 15th anniversary.
We will see you on June 13-15 in Belgrade, at Hotel Metropol Palace.
