Construction of Ring Road and Reconstruction of Railroad to Belgrade Planned in Sid

(Sid) The works on the reconstruction of the state road in Morovic, near Sid, which will enable the residents of that place to reach the center of Sid more quickly and easily, were visited by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

According to the ministry’s website, he also announced important projects for Sid in the future, primarily the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Sid railroad, which would continue toward Zagreb, Ljubljana, Vienna and Venice, as well as the construction of a ring road.

He also pointed out that Sid was waiting for the ring road. As it is too expensive, as he said, it will be part of the European project of the expansion of the Sid border crossing on both the Serbian and the Croatian side.

– With the construction of a true ring road, we want to enable the moving of all cargo traffic from the center of Sid. That is a project that has been waited for for a long time here and which I have launched and in the next year or two, we will have the first results – Vesic said.

He said that Sid was looking at the reconstruction of the railroad to Belgrade and pointed out that the project, whose construction was in progress, would be finished in October.

He clarified that the railroad would be adapted for speeds of up to 200 km/h, whereby Sid would be on a fast railroad which would be part of the railroad which would connect Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Vienna and Venice, which had been unimaginable several years before.

– When we finish the project, in October, we will commence negotiations about the realization. I am going to Brussels to talk to the transport ministers of Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia and the transport commissioner, because it is a joint railroad, and we will request a grant from the EU, because it is in the interest of Europe as well to build that railroad and that is a guarantee that that railroad would also be built – Vesic said.
