PUC City Transport Company Belgrade (JKP GSP Belgrade) made a decision to suspend the public procurement procedure for 20 trams announced a week ago.

The ordering party, JKP GSP Belgrade, explained this decision by the fact that "after the initiation of the public procurement in question, it was informed by the relevant secretariat of the City of Belgrade that it can provide a more favorable type of financing for the purchase of vehicles which are the subject of public procurement, with the support of the Government of Serbia, and thus can ensure the purchase of a significantly larger number of vehicles".

- In accordance with the above, and with the goal of ensuring a more economical spending of the city budget, the proposal to transfer the purchase of trams to the jurisdiction of the Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade, was adopted" - the Decision reads.

The estimated value of the suspended tender was also presented: RSD 7 billion without VAT (about EUR 59.5 million).

In September, the City has made a decision to borrow EUR 325 million from GSP to meet the long-awaited purchase of trams (the last ones were purchased over 10 years ago).
