The “Pandina” brand, which Stellantis Europe presented during the summer, is currently being tested at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, and the presentation of the “new Panda” is scheduled for July 11, 2024.

All things considered, although the results of the negotiations with the Italian government about incentives are difficult and uncertain even at the European level of the Euro 7 engine standard, the new electric car will be produced in Serbia, and then in Brazil and Morocco, Forbes Srbija reports, citing Italian media.

The new Panda is the first low-cost electric car of the group, which costs less than EUR 20,000, and a vehicle that will have to compete against Chinese cars and small electric cars made by European manufacturers, according to Italian media.

The old Panda, the best-selling car in Italy, is to remain at the Pomigliano factory by at least 2026.

In order to be different from the new crossover Panda, the car produced in Italy could be named Pandina.

In any case, Panda’s future depends on Brussels, Italian media write, as reported by Forbes Srbija.

The revision of the EU decree on motor vehicle emissions envisages the postponement of the ban on Euro 7 engines by 24 months. In other words, it comes into effect in 2027.

Regarding this, the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, stated that “Panda symbolizes a certain lifestyle and we could extend the production of that model, but it depends on the Euro 7 debate.”

The Portuguese top manager said about the “new Panda” that it would be “produced in several factories.”

Mirafiori and other Italian factories are still hoping for it. This too will be discussed on December 6 at the meeting called by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development in Italy, Adolfo Urso, with the aim of returning to the production of a million vehicles in Italy.
