Predrag Markovic, who will be the Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society at the proposal of Prime Minister Cvetkovic, is one of the founders of G17 Plus. He was in the position of the President of the Parliament of Serbia in the period March 2004-February 2007.
After leaving the position of the President of the Parliament, he did not take part in public life until last year. He returned to political life in April 2010 as one of the initiators and the author of the Programme of the political union United Regions of Serbia (URS).
At his proposal and based on his signature, Serbia got back it's coat of arms, flag and national anthem on August 17, 2004, and it became an independent country on June 5, 2006.
Mr. Markovic was among the founders of G17 Plus and the Vice President of the party for few years, and he was later awarded the title of the Honorary Vice President. He is now a member of the Presidency of the United Regions of Serbia.
He was born on December 7, 1955, in Cepure near Paracin. He graduated in 1980 from the Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade, and he later studied history and culture in Madrid and Barcelona.
Predrag Markovic is the holder of the Royal Order of the White Eagle of the first degree. He was also an editor of several newspapers and magazines. He formed the publishing company Stubovi Kulture in 1993.
